We were VERY excited today to receive our I-800a APPROVAL notice!!!! This basically means that we have been granted permission to adopt a child specifically from China and bring her back to the U.S. as a citizen. After submitting our dossier to China, we will have to receive approval from the Chinese government, but having the U.S. approval is a major part of the process. We are now ready to have all our documents authenticated in Frankfort and Washington, D.C. and sent to China!
Due to other responsibilities we have this week in the afternoons, we are going to go to Frankfort tomorrow (working half the day due to state testing). We are excited to take Alexis to the Kentucky State Capitol building for this experience! After having our documents state certified, we will drive to Lexington and hand our dossier over to our case worker so that she can send it with a courier to Washington, D.C.
This approval from Homeland Security is a big hurdle we can "check" off our list!
